Top 10 Reasons For Phillies Fans Not To Panic

17 Mar

If you’re like many fans I’ve talked to lately, you may be feeling a growing sense of panic. The Phillies recent rash of injuries, Utley, Brown, Lidge and now Polanco, have more than a few fans lowering their “great expectations” and raising their level of concern for the season ahead.

But am I worried?  Naaaaah.  Come on, it’s only March.

“It’s a marathon not a sprint.”                                                                                                      “You have to take it one game at a time.”                                                                                    “It’s not how you start, it’s how you finish.”

Feel any better?  Well if these tried and true baseball cliches aren’t doing the trick allow me to offer my

Top Ten Reasons It’s Not Time To Panic

#10 Doesn’t anyone remember last year? 18 Phillies spent time on the DL                              including Howard, Utley, Rollins, Polanco, and Ruiz.  In fact we were barely      able to field our  starting line-up but the Phils still won the NL East and led all teams with 97 wins.

#9 Chase’s wife Jen was on with Mikey Miss today and when he asked her if  Chase         was done for the year, or even if his career may have hit the wall her answer         was an emphatic, “No way!  Chase Utley does not have that wall.”  Well said, Jen.

#8 Hey, this is just Spring Training.  It’s practice.                                                                   “You worryin’ about practice?  Not a game, not a game, practice.”                                   That quote just keeps on giving.

#7 “It takes a few clouds to make a more beautiful sunset.”  OK, sorry, that’s another           cliche.

#6 If the Phils get off to a slow start, Ruben will just get Jayson Werth back at                     the trade deadline.

#5 This is all part of my master plan.  With all these injuries, the Phillies will be                underdogs after all, just the way I like it.

#4 If you really need something to worry about, just turn on CNN.

#3 The Phillies were off today so there are no new injuries to report!

#2 Just fill out your March Madness Brackets and take your mind off your troubles.

And the #1 reason It’s Not Time to Panic?

Just 4 little words:

Roy, Roy, Cole, and Cliff

And with that, my friends, I rest my case.

I AM NOT PANICKING!!! I THINK ALL THAT PRESSURE ANDTALK ABOUT HOW “THE PHILLIES CAN’T LOSE WITH THAT FABULUS FOUR” IS BAD LUCK. WE DON’T NEED TO BE REMINDED CONSTANTLY HOW GOOD OUR
PITCHING STAFF IS. WE KNOW. I TOO,, WOULD PREFER TO ROOT FOR AN UNDERDOG (GOD FORBID)
