‘Twas The Day Before Baseball

31 Mar

‘Twas the day before baseball; It’s finally here,

So get out your hot dogs and chill all your beer.

Those Phillies shirts hung in your closet last Fall,

Can come out of hiding, it’s time to ‘Play Ball!’

The ballpark stands waiting; the line-up is set.

Roy Halladay will pitch against our old friend Brett.

The Fab Five are ready, and so’s the ‘Big Bopper,

The Majestic Store will be open for shoppers.

There have been some changes with Utley still out,

Victorino leads off, let’s hope Jimmy won’t pout.

And with Lidge’s bad shoulder, we turn to Contreras,

All that 9th inning stress, we hope he will ‘spare us.’

Charlie’s got some new pieces to add to the core

There’s Michael Martinez and don’t forget  Orr.

The stands will be packed, thought it will be quite cool,

I can already hear those first chants of  “Rauuuuuuul.”

So enjoy this last day, while anticipation mounts.

Opening  Day is tomorrow; tomorrow it counts!
