Debut Haiku

30 Aug

Yes, the Phillies lost another game but this season that’s no headline.  The big story was the debut of  Tyler Cloyd.  It has been quite a week for the Phils highly touted 25-year-old right-hander.  On Tuesday, his 12-1 record and 2.35 ERA earned him the International League’s Most Valuable Pitcher honors.  One day later, he was starting in the majors.

Although Cloyd lost the game 3-2, he had a solid first outing.   After a shaky start, he retired 11 of the last 12 Mets batters he faced earning him his greatest honor yet:  his first Haiku.  Let’s hope it’s the first of many.

Butterflies inside

He lost but looks bona fide

He said his Dad cried.
